Ms Kunene is an admitted Attorney with 22 years post articles experience in various fields of law including, Property and Land Law, as well as Environmental Law.
Ms Kunene graduated with a BProc, LLB degree from the University of Zululand, She served her articles of Clerkship and was admitted to practice as an Attorney in 1997. In August 1999 she was admitted as a Conveyancer.
Having worked for the State Attorney she obtained skill and experience in a variety of fields of law which includes civil litigation, criminal litigation, and drafting of contracts as well as labour law. During her employment with the State Attorney Ms Kunene got involved in the drafting of conveyancing documents as well as attending to their registration at the deeds office. Ms Kunene also has experience in collection matters as well as foreclosure matters as during the course of her practice she acted on behalf of a number of municipalities and corporations in their collection matters.
Ms Kunene has asserted herself as a property lawyer, which is preceded by her wealth of experience she has gathered on every aspect of property law, as far ranging as Land and Planning Law and the Environmental aspects which impacts on the development of property. Ms Kunene dealt with a variety of land law matters as the legal advisor of the REGIONAL LAND CLAIMS COMMISSIONER –KWAZULU NATAL where she dealt with complex land claims and their referral to the Land Claims Court and managing the Conveyancers tasked with effecting registration of transfers.
Ms Kunene also ventured out to gain experience in Environmental law and worked for the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, where she kept track of her property law specialty as she dealt with Environmental Impact Assessments on property development and gave opinion on a variety of matters pertaining to the environment and land.
Ms Kunene has gained experience and training with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) on various fields of environmental law and policy including the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects where she can assist developers with the design of an acceptable CDM project, the training also involved drafting and interpretation of international agreements.
Ms Kunene is currently occupied with writing the Notarial Practice exams to be admitted on the roll of Notary Public of South Africa.
